Comments about minority groups which landed Councillor Jan Harder in hot water earlier this year were again raised at an all candidates meeting Tuesday. The relaxed mood at the meeting of candidates in the Bell South Nepean ward changed, when a resident raised this issue with challenger John Palmer. The man questioned Palmer's "Think twice, speak once" policy, saying that it appears to be a shot at Harder. Mr. Palmer would only say inappropriate comments have been made in the past. Councillor Jan Harder wasn't impressed. She says anyone who was there the night of the particular incident knows how terrifying it was, and her now infamous "non-whites" comments were isolated to that case. Other issues raised included taxes, and community safety. |
