November 30th - Planned Hydro Ottawa Maintenance in Ward 3 (Barrhaven)

Message from Hydro Ottawa Public Affairs:


I am writing to inform you of work Hydro Ottawa will soon be undertaking in your ward. The project involves remediation work following a transformer replacement. This work is necessary to ensure reliability of the electricity distribution system in your ward. The project is scheduled for December 3, 2020.

Understanding that this is a sensitive time with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many residents are working from home; we recognize that any construction activities and planned power interruption can be very disruptive. As such, we want to assure you that all construction activities and power interruptions will be scheduled and planned very carefully. Our crews will be working as quickly and safely as possible to minimize disruption. All precautionary measures will be taken to ensure social distancing and public health guidelines are respected.

Residents may notice increased construction presence throughout the day, including heavy construction equipment and excavation activities. Tree trimming may be required. Road closures will be required to complete work in this area. Traffic control will be implemented when required to ensure that roads and sidewalks remain safe and accessible to staff.

Planned power interruptions are expected to occur as a result of this project, all affected residents and businesses will be notified of any planned power interruptions in advance. Our qualified staff and contractors will conduct this work safely and efficiently, ensuring that any inconvenience is minimal.

Streets: Antler Avenue and Tulane Crescent

Project start date: December 3, 2020

Planned Power Interruption: 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Total Customers Impacted: 8 residential customers

Customers impacted by planned power interruptions related to this project, will be contacted by Hydro Ottawa to the power interruption taking place, by phone, text, email and/or written notice delivered to their door. Customers will also be notified if the power interruption is to extend beyond the original duration time. In case of adverse weather, the power interruption may be rescheduled.
