March 4th - Selection of neighbourhoods for pop-up vaccination clinics

At its meeting of Wednesday, February 24, Council requested the list of high priority neighbourhoods that would be offered COVID-19 vaccines through pop-up clinics. Further to this request, and based on the evidence-based approach and rationale provided by Dr. Etches in the memo dated February 26th (attached to this message as reference), the neighbourhoods are listed below alphabetically:

• Britannia Village

• Carleton Heights - Rideauview

• Carlington

• Carson Grove - Carson Meadows

• Emerald Woods - Sawmill Creek

• Greenboro East

• Hawthorne Meadows - Sheffield Glen

• Hunt Club East - Western Community

• Hunt Club Park

• Ledbury – Heron Gate - Ridgemont

• Lowertown

• Manor Park

• Overbrook - McArthur

• Parkwood Hills - Stewart Farm

• Riverview

• Sandy Hill

• Vanier North

• Vanier South

• West Centretown

• Whitehaven - Queensway Terrace North

The pop-up vaccination clinics will only be available to individuals who are born in or before 1941 or who are adult recipients of chronic home care and who live in these neighbourhoods. The boundaries of the neighbourhoods, as classified by the Ottawa Neighbourhood Study (ONS), can be viewed on ONS Neighbourhood Maps website. We appreciate that in some situations these boundaries may not align with a perceived boundary in the community; however, in the need of having standard boundaries, we will be following the ONS boundaries.

The location of additional clinics will be announced on Mondays as staff proceed through planning for these neighbourhoods in the coming weeks. Details on the roll out to the next priority neighbourhoods including specific maps will be provided on a regular basis moving forward.

Beginning the week of March 1 only individuals who are 80 years old and older or who are adult recipients of chronic home care and who live in the following neighbourhoods are currently eligible to book an appointment.

• Riverview

We are asking residents who are not eligible for this week’s vaccine pop-up clinics not to call this booking phone line, as it is only for eligible residents. Please help us keep phone lines open for those who are eligible to receive a vaccine. To confirm that you are eligible for vaccination, please visit Ottawa Public Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Screening Tool. In addition, it is important to note that the phone line staff are unable to make any exception to the eligibility as listed on the screening tool.
