December 3rd - O-Train Line 1 to have additional work through December 5th - 6th
Message from Transportation Service Department:
Rideau Transit Group (RTG) has requested access to O-Train Line 1 for additional work on the system.
The City has granted RTG permission to access Line 1 in order to continue the work associated with switch heater upgrades across the alignment, necessitating the following temporary closures:
On Saturday, December 5 and Sunday December 6 Line 1 will be partially closed, with trains operating between Tunney’s Pasture and Hurdman Stations, and frequent R1 replacement bus service operating between Hurdman and Blair Stations. Full service on Line 1 will resume on Monday December 7.
During the temporary closure, the final installation, commissioning and testing to validate the upgrades to the switch heaters is being performed. In order to complete this work, access is required to a portion of the line to test the upgraded gas heaters at the locations in the east. In addition to the switch heater upgrades, work will continue on the track and infrastructure associated with the rectification plan as well as ongoing maintenance. Customers will see a variety of high-rail track equipment working in various locations on the track, undertaking inspections and adjustments.
On December 6, the station entrance grilles and doors will be open from Tunney’s Pasture Station to Hurdman Station but will be closed at Tremblay Station, St-Laurent Station, and Cyrville Station, where customers will have access to R1 bus stops outside the station entrances. The entrance grilles and doors at Blair Station will be open to allow customers to reach R1 bus service from the local platforms, the pedestrian bridge and Gloucester Centre. Staff will be present at stations to assist customers.
Details will be communicated to customers through various channels, including a PSA, customer alerts, social media updates, signage at Line 1 stations, and octranspo.com. Customers can visit octranspo.com for travel planning assistance or call 613-741-4390. Schedules are available by calling 613-560-1000 or texting 560560 plus the bus stop number.
Staff continue to work collaboratively with RTG to improve service on Line 1 for customers. An update to Council will be provided should RTG be granted access for any future work.
